Green Space Challenge Stories Day 5
“Growing up in Alaska and later living and working in places like Washington, Oregon, and Germany, I’ve always seen nature as more than just a beautiful backdrop—it’s a source of peace, health, and growth. Whether in the wilderness or in the heart of town, green spaces offer a sense of home and belonging.
I’ve experienced firsthand the positive impact nature has on children, helping them learn, grow, and find balance in their minds and bodies. As they grow into teens, they’ll learn to value stepping away from their phones, finding peace from daily stress in nature, and having the freedom to walk or ride their bike to a safe, natural space that means so much to everyone around them.
Imagine being able to bring or grab coffee in town, saying a quick hello to your neighbors and walking just a short distance to the green space that is now thriving with wildflowers and places to sit and enjoy a good book with your coffee – that’s what we’re building!”
