Green Space Challenge Stories Day 23
“Hello, we are the Nanney family! We’ve only been here in Romeo a year and a half, but it feels like we’ve always been here! Our neighbors, the community, and environment have been so warm and welcoming. We truly feel blessed to call this place our home.
When my husband and I first started talking about moving, first we wanted a unique, older home, and second, I personally wanted an outdoor space that I could turn into a wildlife habitat. When we’d visit downtown and walk around the neighborhood and see all the lush gardens with native plants, I knew Romeo would be the perfect place to achieve that. So when our custom built mid century modern, with a little over an acre, came on the market, we jumped on it!
This past year living here, surrounded by nature has felt like a warm hug. It’s been lovely being walking distance from downtown as well, and the green space on Prospect is on our route. It would be wonderful to have that open land turned into a space that serves the community, but also serves as food and shelter for wildlife. Besides bringing in local pollinators, studies have shown that bringing biodiversity to a neighborhood will improve the health and well-being of everyone who visits. Who doesn’t feel better mentally and physically after a visit with nature?!”
