Shirley, Joyce and Carol
The three Kohlhagen sisters who spoke with us include Joyce Gwinn, Carol Petzold, and Shirley Wilburn.
The three sisters lived on a farm until they moved to the Village of Romeo when their dad died. They attended North Grade School (now the Administration Building). Shirley attended the school on Prospect Street (where she would later teach in kindergarten classes) when the Romeo Middle School and High School were in one building and Carol & Joyce attended when it was only the Romeo High School. They have fond memories of playing half-court basketball, plays, and the prom. All three went on to teaching careers. They unanimously believe the property on Prospect should be kept as a park and that it should include education activities.
