Our Stories

Caroline and Bill Miller

Green Space Challenge Stories Day 17

“Our family, parents and grandparents, have lived in and around Romeo for many generations. Our parents, Don and Yvonne Miller, went to school in Richmond and after they were married in 1956 they settled in Romeo. The first house they lived in was the little stone house on Bailey Street across from Fred’s Market.

Bill has lived in Romeo since 1999, I, Caroline, have lived in the Village a couple times but most recently I moved back in 2021.

We come from a family of 5 kids, the rest are spread out around the country and surrounding areas. Donnie, class of 1975, Larry, class of 1976 and Tom, class of 1977. Bill has 2 children that are Romeo graduates and 2 grandchildren in Romeo schools.

Bill and I are here in the Village for good! I am the current Treasurer and Bill, aka “the clock guy”, is a business owner in the Village and was responsible for restoring the clock in The Abbey clock tower back in 2010.

We both have vested interests in this community and are thrilled at the prospect of the Green Space!

As a family our parents took us to many vacation spots in Michigan and around the country, always camping and exploring the outdoors. Growing up traveling has inspired me as an adult to explore the wonders of not only the U.S. but other countries as well.

The green space on Prospect Street reminds us of Central Park in New York City. How wonderful it would be to have our very own Central Park right in the Village of Romeo!”
