Green Space Challenge Stories Day 30
“As someone who attended Romeo Middle School from 2007-2010, I think about all the personal history that took place on this site and the stories that these trees could tell. I am currently pursuing my masters degree in architecture at Lawrence Technological University.
This semester I am studying activist architecture and I have been tasked with identifying a deficiency in our community and collaborating with a community partner to advance a design project. This is where I found GSOPS. GSOPS has done a fantastic job providing a plan for the space with plenty of opportunities for all members of the community.
Whether it is accessible pathways, education opportunities, or passive stormwater management this space has something for everyone. We all know that “This place matters” and with green space in the area always decreasing, GSOPS’ mission is once in a lifetime to provide the village something special.
When I am not studying, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. Attending community events in the village, golfing, going to concerts, boating on Lake St. Clair, working with stained glass and exploring Northern Michigan. I love history and feel so lucky to be a part of preserving the memories of this site.”
