Goats!

Sponsor a Goat. Support a Greener Future.

This May, an innovative and eco-friendly land restoration effort is coming to life at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Green Space Romeo is teaming up with Michigoat to bring in a herd of hardworking goats to tackle invasive plant species.

For three days, 30 goats will call the church property home, grazing on invasive vegetation that threatens the health of the local ecosystem. This method uses targeted grazing to restore balance to the land in a sustainable, low-impact way.

Why Goats?

Goats are remarkably effective at clearing invasive plants, including privet and honeysuckle. They can navigate difficult terrain, consume dense overgrowth, and fertilize the soil as they graze—making them a powerful, all-in-one restoration solution.

To ensure safety and efficiency, the goats will be enclosed within a movable electric fence. This temporary fencing system allows the team to precisely control where the goats graze, maximizing their impact over the three-day period. Once the project is complete, the fence will be removed, leaving behind a healthier, more manageable landscape.

Community-Powered Conservation

This project isn’t just about land restoration—it’s also an opportunity for the community to get involved.

Through our “Goat Fund Me” campaign, Green Space Romeo is inviting supporters to sponsor the goats and directly contribute to the effort:

  • $20 sponsors one goat for one day
  • $60 sponsors one goat for all three days

As a thank you, we will invite all sponsors and families to a special goat meet and greet on May 2 from 11am – 1pm. Refreshments will be provided and sponsors will have the opportunity to see the goats up close and learn more about the project.

A Model for Sustainable Change

This partnership between Green Space Romeo and Michigoat highlights a growing movement toward nature-based solutions in land management. By using goats, the project reduces environmental impact while fostering community engagement and awareness.

As the goats get to work this May, they’ll be doing more than just eating—they’ll be helping restore a vital green space and demonstrating how creative approaches can lead to meaningful environmental change.

Whether you care about conservation, are curious about goat grazing, or just want to support a local initiative, sponsoring a goat is a simple and meaningful way to get involved in the community.
