Green Space Challenge Stories Day 28
“When we began looking for a historic home over a decade ago, we knew we wanted to make Romeo our home. Romeo’s quaint historic village atmosphere coupled with the beautiful trees and landscape was the ultimate draw. After several failed attempts to purchase the perfect home, we gave up on our dream. Although we were very content and satisfied in the new home we ultimately purchased, we (especially Tina!) never gave up hope that one day we would be able to restore and preserve an old home in Romeo. In 2022, that dream came true! Mike, a Romeo High School graduate, is no stranger to Romeo’s charm. The first home he lived in, on Prospect Street, sat directly across from the home that he’d eventually purchase. As a young boy, Mike would tell his mom that he wants to live in the big, red brick home on the hill, known as the Moses A Giddings home – and now he does!
One day in August 2022, the Moses A Giddings home came on the market after almost 20 years. Without hesitation, we put in an offer and it was accepted! Two months later, we finally moved into our beautiful big, red brick home on the hill! Situated on 1 ½ acres, the magnificent hilltop scenery only adds to this perfect home.
We love to travel (especially to Italy!) and have visited the most beautiful places, but Romeo’s serenity and peacefulness brings us the most joy!
The Green Space on Prospect Street is important to us because it promotes the aspects of Romeo’s visual identity. The scenic beauty benefits everyone, including citizens and visitors. It also adds aesthetic value and provides additional character. We believe that the Green Space on Prospect Street should be protected and cherished for years to come!”
