Goat Report and Workday Reminder

Dear Green Space Friends (and goat lovers!)

We hope this day finds you healthy and enjoying the earth that is springing into life all around us! Here’s an update on our St. Paul’s Episcopal Stewardship Project.

Goats!

Thank you for an amazing successful fundraiser that fully supported 30 goats from Michigoat visiting the green space at St. Paul’s Episcopal and happily munching invasives for 3 days. 44 people responded to our Goat-Fund-Me with sponsorships and donations totaling $2,250. We had a wonderful Goat Meet and Greet for our sponsors, partners and neighbors. Stay tuned! We are planning another visit from Michigoat in the fall to work on the next section of woody invasives.

Thank you to our media friends at the Romeo RecordMacomb Daily and Channel 4 WDIV for their excellent coverage of our goat herd visit and event – and for helping to spread the word about sustainable community-based land stewardship! See more details, including media coverage and photos at our Goats! web page

Garlic Mustard and Other Invasives Workday this Saturday

Please come to our workday coming up on Saturday when we get together with our friends from Lake St. Clair CISMA to pull garlic mustard and other pesky weeds out of the green space at St. Paul’s. St. Paul’s is located at 11100 32 Mile Rd, Romeo, MI 48065.

Summer Calendar

Saturday, May 16 / 10 a.m. – 12 noon

Learn to identify herbaceous invasive plants; identify, pull and bag herbaceous invasives in the wooded areas. Check out the work accomplished by the goats earlier in the month.

Saturday, June 20 / 10 a.m. – 12 noon

What are the native plants growing in our woods and how do we encourage them to thrive; what is the potential for restoration of a healthy, diverse woodland?

Saturday, August 15 / 10 a.m. – 12 noon

Let’s enjoy the wonderful green space at St. Paul’s and celebrate with a potluck and barbecue!

Wishing you all the best!
Donna
