Goats for Green Space!

Dear Green Space friends,

The world around us is finally turning green! As we welcome spring, we have some announcements about our St. Paul’s Stewardship Project that we are excited to share with you. First: Goats!

This May, an innovative and eco-friendly land restoration effort is coming to life at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church property. Green Space Romeo is teaming up with Michigoat to bring in a herd of hardworking goats to tackle invasive plant species.

For three days, 30 goats will call the church property home, grazing on invasive vegetation that threatens the health of the local ecosystem. This method uses targeted grazing to restore balance to the land in a sustainable, low-impact way. Please visit our Goats! project page to learn more.

Goat Fund Me: This project isn’t just about land restoration—it’s also an opportunity for you to get involved. Through our “Goat Fund Me” campaign, Green Space Romeo is inviting supporters to sponsor the goats and directly contribute to the effort – for a $20 donation you can sponsor one goat for one day and for $60 sponsor one goat for all three days

As a thank you, we will invite all sponsors and families to a special Goat Meet and Greet on May 2 from 11am – 1pm. Refreshments will be provided, and sponsors will have the opportunity to see the goats up close and learn more about the project. Please visit our Goat Fund Me page and sponsor a goat!

Stewardship Workdays! A productive and rewarding workday brought together Lake St. Clair CISMA, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and Green Space Romeo for a great collaborative effort on March 21st! A team of 15 dedicated volunteers worked hard to clear invasive shrubs and vines—including honeysuckle, privet, and bittersweet—from the St. Paul’s property, helping restore and protect the health of this important green space.

Let’s keep the momentum going! Please join us for a workday – see calendar below. Every bit of help makes a difference!
