Fantastic Parks and Rec Close to Home

Between fitness centers, programs for all ages and great parks, Romeo Washington Bruce Parks and Recreation Department has a variety of offerings for the whole community. Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents of all ages, the department offers a wide range of recreational programs and accessible park facilities. A strong commitment to community engagement and wellness drives the department’s mission. From youth sports leagues and senior fitness classes to sports courts and fitness centers, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The department has 2 community centers – 1 in Washington Township and 1 in Romeo. Both have senior centers and fitness centers. The department also maintains several scenic parks and green spaces, including walking trails, playgrounds, sports fields, and picnic areas, encouraging outdoor activity and family-friendly fun. In addition, Romeo Washington Bruce Parks and Recreation runs STAR transport which provides transportation services to older adults and individuals with disabilities.

Whether you’re a lifelong resident or new to the area, there’s always something happening at Parks and Rec.

Washington Township Residents: Are you wanting to get more involved in determining the future of the Parks and Rec department? There is currently an open position on the board. Applications are due by August 11.

Washington Community Park

The Washington Community Park is behind Washington Township Hall on Van Dyke Road between 26 and 27 Mile. Inside are the activity and fitness centers. Outside, there are tennis and pickleball courts, a playground, a walking path, and soccer fields.

Bruce Township Park

Bruce Township Park is located behind the Bruce Township Hall on East Gates Street on the north side of Romeo. This park has soccer fields, a walking trail and a playground.

Romeo Community Center

Located in the Village of Romeo on Morton Street, the Romeo Community Center is a fitness and activity center. Outside, there is a playground, a sledding hill, a basketball court, a skate park and several ball fields.

Orchards Park

Located on the corner of 33 mile and Van Dyke, Orchards Park has a playground, a walking trail and a basketball/pickleball court.

Gilcher-Crissman Park

Gilcher-Crissman Park is on 29 Mile Road between Campground and Mound. It has several ball and soccer fields as well as a playground and walking path.
